Doctor, Arinze Onwumelu, has advised singer Portable to undergo a brain scan following his celebrity boxing match with skit maker Carter Efe
And we also think this is not mocking him, but a thing that should be considered.
This comes after his 3-0 defeat in the just concluded match.
In a post and video shared to social media, Onwumelu, also known as Dr Zo, raised concern about the level of impact Portable may have sustained during the fight.
He recommended that the singer undergo a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan to rule out possible internal head injuries.
According to him, some of the punches delivered by Carter Efe appeared to target sensitive areas of Portable’s head, which could pose serious medical risks.
“This is an exhibition match meant for entertainment, not a real fight to harm anyone. The contenders are not expected to fight to that extent.
“Or does it mean Efe didn’t get the memo or wasn’t properly informed? I watched the whole video; the kind of punches he delivered means Portable may never recover from them.
“Anybody who knows Portable should take him to the hospital for MRI and brain test; there may be an artery that might have been damaged,” he said.
He further cautioned organisers of celebrity boxing events to ensure stricter safety measures, including the use of mandatory headgear, to prevent potential head injuries in future matches.
