Super Falcons report cash theft at team hotel in Morocco

Several Super Falcons players have reportedly fallen victim to theft while camping in Morocco ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON)

The incident allegedly occurred at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, where the Nigerian team is lodged for its final preparations before the tournament.

According to reports, some players returned to their rooms to discover that cash had disappeared from their wallets.

Esther Okoronkwo is said to have lost $700, while team captain Rasheedat Ajibade reportedly had $200 stolen. Osinachi Ohale allegedly lost $100, Joy Omewa $120, and Halimatu Ayinde $100.

In total, the players are reported to have lost $1,220, an amount estimated at about ₦1.7 million.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to comment publicly on the incident or confirm whether an investigation has been launched.

Nigeria’s squad is currently in Casablanca completing preparations under head coach Justine Madugu before heading to Rabat for their opening Group C fixture against Malawi. The Super Falcons, who are defending champions, will also face Zambia and Egypt in the group stage.
