Vinícius Junior has been added to Real Madrid’s injury list after being diagnosed with a hamstring injury in his left leg, the club confirmed on Monday.
The injury is expected to keep him sidelined for at least three weeks, ruling him out of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Liverpool, as reported by News.Az, citing BeinSports.
“Following tests conducted today by Real Madrid’s medical team, Vini Jr. has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury in his left leg,” the club said in a statement.
The injury was confirmed after Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Leganés, in which the Brazilian played the full 90 minutes.
This is a significant setback for Real Madrid, as they lose a key player who has contributed 12 goals and 8 assists in 18 appearances this season. His absence comes at a critical time with important fixtures on the horizon, starting with the Champions League match against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.
Sources close to the club suggest Vinícius is targeting a return for the Intercontinental match on December 18 in Qatar, although his recovery progress will determine his availability.
With Vinícius sidelined, Real Madrid has now endured 23 injuries this season across 14 players, with the Brazilian having also been unavailable due to back problems in October.
Carlo Ancelotti will be without seven players for the trip to Liverpool: Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vázquez, Éder Militao, David Alaba, Aurelien Tchouaméni, Rodrygo Goes, and now Vinícius Junior.
