Popular Nigerian content creator, Shank Comics, has sparked reactions online after revealing that his primary motivation for working hard is to eventually live in Ikoyi, one of Lagos’ most affluent neighborhoods.
In a statement that quickly gained attention on social media, he said, “Anything you do in this life, make sure you have made money to come and live in Ikoyi.”
Shank Comics went on to clarify that his drive is largely personal and not necessarily centered on traditional expectations such as family responsibilities or future dependents.
“I’m not even working hard for my parents or my future children,” he said, emphasizing a shift from the commonly expressed motivations of many young professionals.
He concluded by restating his goal in clear terms:
“I’m working hard to come and live in Ikoyi. This is my future.”
His comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some people relating to his focus on achieving a specific lifestyle, while others debated the idea of success being tied to a particular location.
