Peter Okoye has opened up about his deepest fear, revealing that poverty, not de.ath, is what troubles him the most
The award-winning artiste made the disclosure while speaking on a recent episode of the Nancy Isime Show, where he recounted painful memories of growing up in extreme hardship.
According to Mr P, his childhood experience of homelessness and financial struggle remains a major driving force behind his determination never to return to poverty.
He said:
“I am not afraid of de.ath. The only thing I am afraid of in this life is poverty, of being broke.
I have tasted it before. I have been in our house with my parents and siblings and a bulldozer came and demolished it.
We were living in a boys’ quarter, me, my mum, my dad, all of us—six boys and two girls in a one-bedroom apartment. They had to divide the room with a curtain.
The landlord had sold the compound, we were pleading for more time to plan our relocation and then a bulldozer came and started demolishing the house while we were still in the building.”
