I’m never doing Reality TV in Nigeria again – BBNaija’s Doyin

Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 housemate Doyin David has opened up about the emotional and psychological struggles she faced following her time on the reality TV show.

In a recent podcast appearance, Doyin expressed her discontent with how the show’s producers depict housemates through selective editing, which she says distorts the truth about their personalities. She noted that these manipulated portrayals often lead the audience to form misleading opinions.

The 31-year-old media personality shared that living under public scrutiny in a society as critical as Nigeria intensified the stress of the experience. According to her, the mental burden outweighed any benefits, and for that reason, she has no desire to be part of another Nigerian reality program.

While she described her BBNaija journey as emotionally draining, Doyin said she might consider joining an international reality show—provided it offers a different environment and values authenticity.

“When you go on a reality show, they show you the way they want to,” she said. “It’s not always a true reflection of who you are. There are a lot of misconceptions about me—things people believe that just aren’t accurate. Mentally, it was a very tough experience, and I wouldn’t do it again for any amount of money. Maybe if it’s outside the country. But Nigerians? They’re too judgmental. I’m not showing up for them again.”

Doyin David is a Nigerian entrepreneur, media figure, and host of the podcast Doyin’s Corner. Beyond her BBNaija appearances, she manages lifestyle ventures such as The Doyin Brand and Eye Candy by Doyin David.
