Drake has opened up about a deeply personal moment that forever changed the course of his life and career, giving full credit to Lil Wayne for stepping in when his family couldn’t.
Speaking with gratitude, the rap superstar recalled how Lil Wayne once gave him $30,000 at a critical point in his early journey a gesture he says became far more meaningful as time passed.
“Lil Wayne gave me $30,000. My family couldn’t afford it, and that changed my life forever. I didn’t realize what was going on at the time, but then I understood later. May God keep protecting him.”
Drake explained that the support went beyond money, describing it as one of the defining moments that helped open the door to opportunities he once thought were impossible.
He also acknowledged that Lil Wayne’s belief in young talent didn’t only impact him, but also played a huge role in Nicki Minaj’s rise.
“I mean, if not for him, me and Nicki Minaj couldn’t be here today.”
