Burnley coach Scott Parker leaves the club with immediate effect after relegation from Premier League

Burnley have announced that manager Scott Parker has left the club in the wake of their relegation to the Championship.

A statement from the Clarets on Thursday read: “Scott Parker has left his position as Head Coach of Burnley Football Club by mutual consent.

“Following confirmation of the Club’s relegation from the Premier League last week, Parker and the Board held discussions and mutually agreed that his time at Turf Moor would conclude.

“During his tenure at Turf Moor, Parker guided the Clarets to a record-breaking season in the 2024/25 campaign, securing Burnley promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, with a 31-match unbeaten run, keeping a remarkable 30 clean sheets.

“The Club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Scott for his professionalism, dedication, and contribution. He leaves with the respect and gratitude of everyone connected with Burnley Football Club.

“Mike Jackson, supported by the existing backroom staff, will take interim charge for the Clarets’ remaining four Premier League fixtures, beginning with Friday’s match away to Leeds United. The process of appointing a new permanent Head Coach ahead of the 2026/27 season has begun.”

Parker, 45, joined Burnley in 2024 following the departure of Vincent Kompany and led them to a place in the Premier League in his first season at the helm. The Clarets amassed 100 points and conceded a record 16 goals on their way to second place in the Championship behind eventual title winners Leeds United.

Burnley sit second bottom, having claimed just 20 points from 34 games this season. Their relegation back to the second tier was confirmed with their recent 1 -0 defeat to Manchester City.

The Lancashire side still have four games of the season remaining, beginning with Friday evening’s clash with Leeds at Elland Road. They will then take on Aston Villa, Arsenal and Wolves before turning their attention to the Championship.
