Mike Ezuruonye has revealed that he once took a break from Nollywood after reaching a point of mental exhaustion, saying it was his colleague Nosa Rex, also known as Babarex, who played a key role in bringing him back to the industry
In a birthday message shared on Instagram on Monday to celebrate Nosa Rex, the actor reflected on the difficult period when he withdrew completely from film sets and avoided industry contacts.
“There was a moment I was done mentally checked out, left Nollywood behind,” he wrote.
He explained that he had become so overwhelmed that he stopped responding to calls from producers and directors.
“I wasn’t even picking calls from producers and directors cos I felt drained, not out of weakness, but because sometimes even the strongest get exhausted.”
According to him, it was during that low point that Nosa Rex stepped in with strong encouragement for him not to give up.
“No bro… no way,” Mike recalled him saying. “Your talent is too much to disappear. You’re needed here.”
He also expressed appreciation for the support he received from Nosa Rex’s wife during the same period.
“Even at a point in my state of mental floatation, his wife, my sister, Nma made sure always I was eating well as her food from their house always made it to my kitchen,” he added.
