“Why I turned down a Russia trip for Asake” – Broda Shaggi speaks

Broda Shaggi recently shared a personal story about his early days with Asake, and it’s one that really highlights loyalty and belief in someone’s potential.

According to him, they first crossed paths in a dance rehearsal group.

At the time, the group had a big opportunity they were all supposed to travel to Russia for a competition. But things didn’t go as planned. Out of everyone, Shaggi was the only one who managed to get a visa.

Now, for many people, that would’ve been a once-in-a-lifetime chance they wouldn’t think twice about. But for Shaggi, it wasn’t that simple. He said he couldn’t bring himself to go alone, especially leaving Asake behind.

He described Asake as someone incredibly talented not just a singer, but also a skilled dancer. Beyond the talent, what stood out even more was his character.

Shaggi recalled how Asake stayed consistent, never gave up on himself, and always carried himself with humility and respect. So instead of chasing the opportunity alone, he chose to stay back.

Looking at where Asake is today, it’s a decision that speaks volumes not just about friendship, but about recognizing greatness even before the world sees it.
