Nollywood actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot has opened up about the challenges he faced while serving in the Lagos State House of Assembly, revealing that he relied on earnings from his movie career to carry out some of his responsibilities
According to the Surulere lawmaker, he never used public office for personal enrichment. Instead, he said he spent his own money to keep his constituency office running throughout his time in office.
Speaking about the financial demands of public service, Elliot said,:
“I used my personal funds from my movies to run the office while I was serving as a Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Surulere Constituency.”
The actor added that his political journey has come with several setbacks and sacrifices, insisting that his years in office were driven by service rather than personal gain.
