Former TV host Wendy Williams has suffered a major personal loss, as her niece and goddaughter, Alex Finnie, announced that her grandfather, and therefore Wendy’s father, Thomas D. Williams, has d!ed at the age of 94
She shared the sad news publicly on her Instagram account, adding a meaningful message in tribute to her grandfather and a montage of memories from before his de,ath. Finnie began the emotional note, “’ll be loving you always ❤️🕊️🙏🏾.”
“It is with an extremely heavy heart that I share — after 94 years of extraordinary love, strength, brilliance, and wisdom, my grandfather Thomas D. Williams has passed,” she went on.
Finnie’s message continued, sharing kind words about Williams while also referring to her late grandmother, saying, “I know he is in heaven with Nana, watching over our family and continuing to guide us as he always has. My grandfather was truly a man of great intellect — an author, educator and keeper of historical facts. Papa poured into both family and community. I miss him tremendously.”
She concluded, “I miss him tremendously. I’m a little lost for words right now, but I love you endlessly Papa. Give Nana a kiss for me ❤️.”
The montage posted alongside the message included photos of Finnie’s grandfather during many important moments in her life, including graduations and vacations. She also included clips of Williams dancing, celebrating his birthday, relaxing at home, and more, as she cherished memories with him.
Friends and fans of Wendy shared caring notes, prayers, and messages of condolences after learning of Williams’ death.
