Nigerian singer Crayon has shared a personal account of a challenging phase in his life, opening up about how overwhelming pressures from different sides affected his mental health.
Speaking during a livestream chat with content creator Carter Efe, the singer reflected on how tough things became for him in 2022. He explained that he was trying to cope with expectations from his family while also dealing with the intense demands of the music industry.
According to him, the situation eventually became too much to handle, leading to a period where he had to receive medical attention and undergo therapy before he could fully recover.
Looking back on that time, Crayon didn’t hold back as he described what he went through, saying:
“In 2022, I had mental health issues from all sorts of stress family pressure, industry pressure, and trying to be number one. I was hospitalised for a long therapy session, then I came out and dropped Labalaba and Overloading.”
After that difficult period, he gradually found his way back into music and later made a strong return with songs like “Labalaba” and “Overloading,” which marked his comeback and renewed presence in the industry.
