Pop star Katy Perry has joined the growing list of celebrities speaking out against the actions of United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The 41-year-old singer took to Instagram to urge her followers to move beyond outrage and take concrete action, following the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by a U.S. Border Patrol officer in Minneapolis.
In a post shared with her over 200 million followers, Katy wrote, “Turn anger into ACTION,” alongside slides instructing Americans to call their senators. She explained that lawmakers have until January 30 to block an additional $10 billion in funding for ICE, on top of the $75 billion already approved.
She also shared a call script, urging senators to filibuster the upcoming homeland security appropriations bill, while condemning reports of arrests, assaults, and deadly force involving ICE officers.
While comments on the post were disabled, it has already gained massive engagement.
