Rema becomes 1st African artiste to surpass 3 billion streams

Rema has made history as his debut album Rave & Roses (Ultra) becomes the first African project to exceed 3 billion streams on Spotify.

The milestone was largely driven by the success of the hit single Calm Down (Remix) featuring Selena Gomez, which alone accounts for over 2 billion streams across its versions. The remaining 20 tracks on the album contributed just under a billion combined.

Following Rema on the list of most-streamed African projects is Tyla’s self-titled debut album with over 2 billion streams.

Other notable African albums that have crossed the 1 billion mark include Burna Boy’s African Giant and Love, Damini, Wizkid’s Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition, and CKay’s CKay the First.
