Phil Foden, a midfielder for Manchester City, has been named the Premier League’s Player of the Season.
Foden, who is 23 years old, was also voted Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year earlier this month.
This season, he has scored a career-high 17 goals and provided eight assists in the Premier League. Before City’s final game on Sunday, Foden said, “Winning this award makes me incredibly proud.”
“The Premier League is widely regarded as the greatest league in the world, and it’s an honor to be nominated alongside so many other outstanding players who have all had remarkable seasons for their teams.”
Foden has been instrumental in Manchester City’s quest for a fourth consecutive Premier League championship. With 25 goals and 11 assists, this has been his most successful season yet.
His two goals in the 4-0 victory against Brighton in April also marked his 50th Premier League goal for the team.
Foden said, “I’m thrilled with how I’ve performed this season, and I’m overjoyed to have contributed with goals and assists throughout.” “I’d want to express my gratitude to all of the City employees, coaches, and especially my teammates, since without them, this would not have been possible. I’d also want to express my gratitude to everyone who cast a vote for me since the prize is much appreciated.”
