Nigerian skit maker and actress KieKie has opened up in a candid conversation with media personality Toke Makinwa about a personal decision she made shortly before her wedding.
She revealed that she and her now-husband, Tunji Ilori, lived together for about four months before officially getting married. According to her, the arrangement wasn’t something they had long planned it just made practical sense at the time.
Explaining her thought process, she said it was largely influenced by timing and finances, especially since her rent had already expired and the wedding was around the corner.
“Before my husband and I got married, we lived together for about four months. My rent had expired, and we were getting married in January, so I said to myself, ‘Why pay another rent?’ People might judge it, but I wasn’t going to waste money. We’d already done our introduction. The church didn’t know about it, and I used to sing in church that time,”.
Her comments sparked attention because she was still actively involved in church activities at the time, including singing, while the couple had already completed their traditional introduction and were preparing for marriage.
KieKie’s reflection comes across as a mix of practicality and honesty about a phase of her life that led into marriage.
KieKie, born Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, is a Nigerian skit maker, actress, and media personality known for her comedy content and energetic on-screen style. She is married to Tunji Ilori, with whom she had a private wedding ceremony in the early 2020s after their relationship became public.
