“I’m tired of performing at Eko Hotel” – Davido reveals!

Davido says Nigerian artists are now used to touring across multiple cities in North America, but that kind of structured interstate touring doesn’t really exist back home.

He explains that Afrobeats acts move city to city abroad as part of organized tours, something still developing in Nigeria’s  music scene.

He puts it this way:
“Nigerian artists have never really done a full interstate tour before, but we’ve toured all over North America”.

On performing in Lagos, he talks about how often artists end up on the same major stages.

He says:
“I’m tired of performing at Eko Hotel… but I heard they’re already building an arena in Lagos,” Davido said.

That comment has fed ongoing conversations about the need for bigger and more modern concert venues in Nigeria as Afrobeats continues to expand globally.

Davido is basically pointing out a gap between Nigeria’s fast-growing global music success and the local systems supporting live performances. While Nigerian artists now enjoy structured, city-to-city tours abroad, that same touring culture is still not well developed at home.

At the same time, he feels the current major venues in Lagos are becoming repetitive for artists at his level, which is why he’s interested in newer spaces like a proposed arena.
