Illbliss apologizes for saying Igbos own Lagos’ lands

Rapper, Illbliss has issued a public apology following backlash over claim that Igbos own most of the land in Lagos

It all began after the rapper spoke on the contributions of Igbos to Lagos’ economy, arguing that the ethnic group had played a major role in the state’s growth through trade and commerce.

This led to some users telling Igbos to leave Lagos and return to the South-East.

Reacting to the criticism, Illbliss posted that Igbos had bought most of the land in Lagos and would “resell” it to its original owners, a statement that generated further outrage online.

However, in a fresh post on his social media page, the rapper apologized, admitting that he reacted emotionally after seeing what he described as derogatory comments directed at Igbos.

He said:

“Few days ago i typed a tweet that stated that over the years, the igbos had contributed commercially to the incredible growth in Lagos, alongside other tribes. A bunch of derogatory tweets responded in attack asking we should vacate Lagos and return to our erosion filled x barren land. i was upset and responded rather harshly in these words ‘ we bought all your land and will resell to you’.”

“i have always been baffled at how hostile certain factions have been towards igbos when it comes to developing areas outside the south east. i apologize if you found my comments brash. it wasn’t intended to tarnish Lagos, a state that has accommodated us all and supported our art, our business and our growth. for many years. We live here and it’s our home and we will always treat it as such. Thank YOU and Stay Blessed.”
