Creative Industry Group set to host Drug Abuse conference

The Creative Industry Group (CIG) is worried over the youths involvement in illicit drugs. The group is more worried owing to the fact that some of its members, including, musicians, actors, comedians, dancers, etc are regarded as role model to the youths.

Unfortunately, some have been tagged drug addict. Not all entertainers do drugs. The CIG has come out to say- No To Drugs.
The group, therefore, has decided to organised a conference, where the celebraties, the government, NGOs, security agencies, students will speak together in one voice against the danger of illicit drugs amongst the youths.
The conference will hold on Tuesday, 28th November, 2023, at OJs, National Stadium, Surulere Lagos, by 11.00 a.m. The theme of the conference is “All Hands on Deck”

Expected at the conference are, the NDLEA Chairman, Gen. Buba Marwa retired, the Lagos State Ministries of Education, Art and cultures, Environment, Health, Youths and Sports Development, Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports, NAFDAC, Immigration and the First Lady of Lagos state as special Guest of Honour.

CIG believes that if the elicit drugs amongst the youths are not checked today, Nigeria will be worse of it tomorrow; the current crimes will be a child’s play. This is not time for everybody to lay down facing one direction, where nobody cares about it, but only few people. It has become an epidemic in our society that need the attention of all.
That is why we are using the body of entertainers, which is the creative industry group to do this campaign to let the world know that hard drug is bad and we will campaign to see how we can reduce our youths in the society from taking drugs to the bearest minimum.

We are taking the campaign to other states, we are starting with Lagos.

We are aware that some parents do drugs and responsible for their children’s addiction, while some parents don’t check or monitor their children’s activities, friends, who also become bad influence to them.
We call on parents and guidance to pay attention to thier children, especially the ones in primary and secondary schools.
