CKay parts ways with Warner Music South Africa

Afrobeats star, CKay, has officially ended his recording deal with Warner Music South Africa, signaling the close of a defining era in his career.

The news was confirmed in a statement sent to PUNCH Online on Friday morning. According to the artist, the decision not to renew the contract was “mutual and strategic.”

“Every journey has a beginning and an end, and my journey with Warner Music South Africa was a very important one, which I’m grateful for,” CKay stated. “Now it’s time for me to explore new energy and new horizons.”

Known for global hits like Love Nwantiti and Emiliana, which have collectively garnered billions of streams, CKay has played a key role in taking Afrobeats to international audiences.

A source close to the singer, who spoke to PUNCH Online on condition of anonymity, hinted that something big is on the way: “Fans can expect a fresh wave of music and direction in the coming weeks.”

With over two billion streams and counting, CKay remains one of Africa’s most influential musical exports—and all eyes are now on what comes next.
