Carrick deserves Man United managerial job – Roy Keane

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has stated that Michael Carrick deserves to be appointed the club’s manager on a permanent basis following his impressive start in charge.

Keane, who had previously been critical of the idea, softened his stance after Carrick guided the Red Devils to notable victories over Manchester City and Arsenal.

Speaking on The Overlap, Keane expressed his support for Carrick being handed the role full-time, praising both his timing and early impact.

“I hope they give it to him,” Keane said. “I hope they give it to him in the summer. I don’t think it’s the right decision, but good luck to him.

“I’m sticking to my guns. I’ve said my piece. I think he’s got the job, and if he gets it in the summer, then you say, ‘Listen, good luck to him.’”

Despite his backing, Keane maintained that Manchester United could still attract a more experienced manager.

“I think you can get a better manager than Carrick, absolutely. But I think he’s doing a good job. It’s perfect timing for him, and even if he doesn’t get the United job, these results, a bit like Ruud van Nistelrooy, can help him get another job, probably another Premier League role,” he said.

Keane concluded by reiterating that while there may be stronger managerial options available, Carrick has handled the opportunity well and deserves credit for his performances so far.
