Bob Manuel reveals why he kept low profile on social media

Veteran Nollywood actor and former lawmaker Bob-Manuel Udokwu has opened up on why he has kept a low profile on social media over the years

Sharing a photo of himself on Instagram on Thursday, the actor said he intentionally stayed away from frequent online engagement because he was uncomfortable with the kind of conversations that dominate social media spaces in Nigeria.

According to him, many issues that trend online often have little connection to the real struggles Nigerians face daily, yet they end up attracting massive attention and consuming people’s time and data.

Udokwu also lamented the growing culture of trolling and dragging online, revealing that it further convinced him to remain mostly silent while observing events from a distance.

“Social media has become something else in Nigeria. Most times things that have little or no relevance to the day to day struggles of the people go viral and consume valuable time and data from the same traumatized people! It baffles me!” he wrote.

“Too much dragging and trolling everywhere! I really don’t regret my choice to stay quiet and read from the sidelines while the job is done,” he added.

Despite his reservations, the  movie star disclosed that he plans to become more active online following repeated requests from fans.

“However due to popular demand I will be more active in posting and engaging my fans from now on….. How una see am?” he wrote.
