Nigerian singer Spyro has expressed concern over recent reports of bandit kidnappings, particularly the reported beheading of a teacher in Ogbomoso and the abduction of school children, saying the situation has left him disturbed and unsettled.
He questioned what he described as a lack of public response from influential religious leaders, clerics, and other well-known figures, saying their voices are often expected during moments of national concern.
Spyro also said the developments affected his personal sense of safety and routine, adding that he was unable to attend church on Sunday due to the emotional weight of the news and general atmosphere of fear.
Spyro laments over rising insecurity and public silence from influential figures.
“Someone was beh£d£d on camera, school children were taken away and we don’t even know where they are, yet our spiritual leaders are silent.”
He questioned the absence of responses from prominent clerics and religious leaders.
“Where is Pastor Adeboye, Pastor Oyedepo, Pastor Kumuyi, Pastor Bolaji, Jerry Eze, etc who have great influence. Why are they not saying anything?”.
The singer said the situation had also affected his personal life and routine.
“I couldn’t even go to church on Sunday. Where are the big alfas and sheikhs? Why are the celebrities silent? We don’t care about each other. It can’t be business as usual.”
