Nigeria women’s national football team will take on Cameroon in two international friendlies in Yaoundé as part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Super Falcons are scheduled to face the Indomitable Lionesses on February 28 before meeting again on March 3, 2026, in what is expected to be a competitive buildup to the continental tournament.
The two sides last met in a pre-WAFCON 2024 friendly at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, where Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory.
Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, confirmed that arrangements for the matches have been finalized in collaboration with Cameroon’s football authorities.
He stated that the federation remains focused on adequately preparing the team to defend their WAFCON title in Morocco and secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
On the Cameroonian side, the Secretary-General of Fédération Camerounaise de Football (FECAFOOT), Isaac Mandong, welcomed the opportunity to host Nigeria, describing the fixtures as a chance to strengthen ties between both football bodies.
At the WAFCON 2026 finals, the defending champions have been drawn in Group C alongside Malawi, Zambia and Egypt.
The tournament will be hosted by Morocco from March 17 to April 3.
