Popular Nigerian singer, Victony has revealed that Olamide, the CEO of YBNL and popular rapper, inspired him to turn his upcoming project “Stubborn” into a full-fledged album.
Initially, Victony had planned to release “Stubborn” as an extended play (EP), but a meeting with Olamide changed his mind.
Olamide encouraged Victony to capitalize on the momentum and release a full album, advising him to strike while the iron is hot and his fans are eager for new music.
Victony was convinced by Olamide’s words and decided to expand the project into an album, which is now set for release on June 28.
He expressed his gratitude for Olamide’s guidance and support, which helped him overcome his initial doubts and push himself to create a more comprehensive body of work.
He said:
“Stubborn was supposed to be an EP. I felt like I was not album-ready.”
“Before the release of the single ‘Stubborn’, I went to Baddo’s house to seek advice like my big brother.
“The meeting had a different outcome. I went there with my guys, just discussing with Baddo. He told me, ‘Look, you do not want to put out a body of work when your fans are no longer yearning for it.
“That hit me because I feel like I am a project artiste and that is how people understand me best. I thought about it and I am like, ‘Why not? What is holding me back?’ And then I tweeted a picture with Baddo.
“That very day was the day we decided to make this an album. I had announced Stubborn as my next project but as an EP.”
