Tyson Fury rejects second Covid-19 jab due to concerns about sickness ahead of Deontay Wilder trilogy bout

Tyson Fury has rejected second Covid-19 vaccination due to concerns about the side effects before his fight against Deontay Wilder.  The Gypsy King was scheduled to face the American for a third time on July 24 but the bout was cancelled last week after Fury and a number of his team tested positive for coronavirus.  According to reports, the bout is now likely to be rearranged for October 9 – at the same venue, the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. In a statement to Boxing Scene, Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum confirmed that the 32-year-old won’t get vaccinated for the second time. He got vaccinated in Miami. He got the first shot,’ Arum explained to Boxing Scene. ‘And then he said he didn’t wanna get the second shot because he didn’t wanna get sick [from the vaccination] so close to the fight. So, he got Covid instead.’ ‘I knew he had one shot, and I was hoping it was Johnson & Johnson. But it wasn’t. It was Moderna.’  The Johnson & Johnson vaccine requires only one jab, while Moderna, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca all require a second jab.
Despite the setback, Arum confirmed that Fury’s condition has improved in recent days. His spirits were OK. He had congestion in his chest [last Thursday]. But as of [Monday] morning, he seems much better.’
