Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that the ongoing FIFA World Cup will be the final World Cup of his illustrious career
The Portugal captain made the announcement during a press conference on Sunday ahead of his side’s round-of-16 encounter against Spain.
Speculation about Ronaldo’s international future had grown after his sister, Katia Aveiro, suggested that the Al Nassr star planned to retire from international football after the tournament.
The 41-year-old has now put an end to the speculation, confirming he will not feature at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
“Yes, it’s my last one. Let’s go and enjoy it,” Ronaldo said.
Ronaldo also holds the distinction of being the oldest player to appear in six different FIFA World Cup tournaments.
