Singer Tems has dismissed any possibility of a romantic relationship with Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.
During a recent interview, Tems first spoke about the global success of African music, saying she is proud of how far Nigerian and African artists have come.
“It’s amazing coming from Nigeria. I’m just really happy where African music is going right now. Everybody’s popping off and everybody’s shining. So I’m just happy to be a part of that,” she said.
The conversation later turned to Okoye when the interviewer asked if she knew the Nigerian goalkeeper.
Laughing, Tems replied, “Do I know him personally?” She then corrected herself, saying, “I think I do. No, no, no, no, no. I don’t.”
The interviewer jokingly suggested she could shoot her shots. Tems immediately rejected the idea, saying;
“Shoot? No, no, no, we don’t shoot shots here. We’re friends. We ‘friend’ each other and we’re family. No shots,” she responded.
Although the exchange was all in good fun, Tems made her position clear. She laughed along with the hosts but left no room for speculation, insisting that she sees Okoye only as a friend and has no intention of pursuing a romantic relationship.
