Skitmaker, Zicsaloma has advised young people to stop depending on handouts and focus on learning practical skills that can help them earn a living
The comedian said many people struggle financially because they have no marketable skill. He stressed that acquiring a skill is the foundation for financial independence and long-term success.
Zicsaloma expressed concern that many graduates are unable to apply what they studied in school, while others lack basic employable skills such as driving, cooking, computer literacy, graphic design or knowledge of artificial intelligence.
He also revealed that he frequently receives messages from people asking him for financial assistance. Recounting one encounter, he said an individual had been requesting money from him for months, but could not mention a single skill when asked what they could do for a living.
The skitmaker warned that constantly relying on others for money would eventually make people a burden, urging young people to instead seek mentors who can teach them practical trades such as hairdressing, barbering, driving or catering.
He said:
“You know, you can’t have money if you’re not doing anything. Like you’re redundant. You don’t have a skill. You don’t stand a chance. Or your chance is almost zero.”
“You can’t drive. You can’t cook. You’re not a chef. You are not computer literate. You don’t know graphic design. You don’t do AI. You done nothing.”
“Some of you even though they’re graduates. You don’t even know what you studied. So you studied English, you can’t even construct proper sentences. You studied accountancy. You don’t know how to bookkeep.”
“I said what can you do… The person said nothing. What can you do? The person could not think of anything.”
“Nobody will keep giving you money forever. You always be a burden to people. People always run away from you.”
“Instead of disturbing people for money, disturb people you can learn skills from… You could be a chef, you could be a driver. Just start from somewhere.”
“Your goal should be a skill… Learn properly. You can become a millionaire from that skill. Just know that if you’re at home and you’re redundant, you do not stand a chance.”
