British rapper Justin Clarke-Samuel, known by his stage name Ghetts, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a hit-and-run that k!lled a university student
The sentence was handed down on Tuesday at London’s Old Bailey after Ghetts pleaded guilty to dangerous driving resulting in the death of 20-year-old Yubin Tameng, a student from Nepal. He was also disqualified from driving for 17 years.
Tameng was struck by Ghetts’ BMW M5 on October 18, 2025, and succumbed to his injuries two days later in hospital. Evidence presented in court revealed that Ghetts was driving at more than 60mph in a 30mph zone and failed to stop after the collision.
Judge Mark Lucraft KC described the incident as “quite appalling” and “simply shocking,” underscoring the gravity of the crime.
Prosecutors said the case relied on CCTV footage, toxicology reports, and mobile phone data to trace Ghetts’ movements through London. “Justin Clarke-Samuel knew he was in no fit state to drive, and there was clear evidence of his excessive speed and disregard for road users as he drove incredibly dangerously across our city,” they stated.
