
Victor Osimhen scored a second-half brace as Galatasaray cruised to a 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor to claim the 2024/25 Turkish Cup on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Nigerian striker netted twice in a dominant final at the Gaziantep Stadium, sealing his first trophy with the Turkish giants.
Baris Yilmaz opened the scoring in the fifth minute, finishing off a move sparked by Osimhen and assisted by Yunus Akgun.
After the break, Osimhen took over. In the 50th minute, Akgun slipped a precise pass into the box, which Osimhen collected after muscling past a defender before drilling a low shot into the bottom corner.
His second came in the 63rd minute, capping off a rapid counterattack with a simple tap-in.
Osimhen’s brace took his tally to 35 goals in 39 appearances for Galatasaray this season — including 24 in the Super Lig, three in the Europa League, and five in the Turkish Cup.
The victory marks Galatasaray’s 19th Turkish Cup triumph and Osimhen’s first silverware with the club. They also lead the Super Lig standings by eight points over Fenerbahce, with five games remaining.
