Actress Nkechi Blessing has shared an emotional account of her experience after a gym photo of her body was taken without consent and went viral, sparking widespread body shaming
Speaking on the podcast The Honest Bunch, Nkechi recounted how a woman at a Lagos gym secretly photographed her “natural body” and posted it online. The incident left the actress, who is a mother to a six-year-old son, feeling violated and hurt.
“This is my body; this is how I’ve always been. I have a 6-year-old son. You got a BBL and you’re taking pictures of me who has a natural body. Are you stupid, sis?” she said, breaking down as she spoke.
Nkechi revealed that she eventually identified the woman responsible and had her arrested, even though the gym initially withheld the individual’s information.
She stressed that she wears clothes that make her feel comfortable and is not hiding from anyone. “I didn’t come online for this. You take a picture of me with a natural body—are you serious? I found her, and I got her arrested,” Nkechi added, visibly emotional as she recounted the ordeal.
The actress’ story highlights the ongoing issue of privacy violations and body shaming, especially in public spaces and on social media, while also underscoring her resilience in standing up for herself.
