Clive Davis, the legendary music executive credited with discovering and signing Whitney Houston, has died at the age of 94.
According to BBC, Clive Davis, who worked with some of the biggest names in music, passed away at his home in Manhattan after recently battling respiratory problems.
Over a career that spanned decades, he helped launch and shape the careers of stars including Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, Santana, Christina Aguilera and Billy Joel.
He signed Houston in 1983 when she was just 19 and played a major role in turning her into one of the world’s biggest-selling artists.
His family described him as a visionary whose influence helped shape the soundtrack of generations.
Davis received multiple Grammy Awards during his career and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.
