Mikel Arteta has admitted Arsenal’s result against Wolverhampton Wanderers was “very tough to accept” after his side surrendered a commanding position in the Premier League clash.
The Gunners enjoyed possession for large for the last part of the game but failed to see out the game, dropping crucial points in the title race.
Arteta acknowledged that his team lacked control in key moments and admitted they fell below the standards required to secure all three points. According to him, Arsenal did not dominate the game the way they should have, particularly in the second half, allowing Wolves back into the contest.
“You have to stand up when they have a moment of difficulty. You have the perfect game against Spurs away to go and show how much we want it and how good we are. That’s it. That’s what we have to do. Talk on the pitch.”
It has been a disappointing week for every stakeholder at Arsenal Football Club as they have seen their nine-point lead drop to four points having played a game more than Manchester City.
Arsenal’s next two games will be key in their quest to win the Premier League as they will face their London rivals, Tottenham and Chelsea in the London derbies.
