Ghana have sacked head coach Otto Addo just over 10 weeks before the World Cup, following a string of disappointing performances, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.
The decision was taken shortly after the Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to Germany in an international friendly in Stuttgart, with the hosts sealing the win through a late goal.
That result extended Ghana’s poor run to four straight losses, coming on the back of a heavy 5-1 defeat to Austria days earlier.
In an official statement, the GFA expressed appreciation for Addo’s efforts and wished him well in his future career.
“The association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours. It will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course.”
Addo, 50, had been in charge of the national team since March 2024.
