Mercy Aigbe opens up on disrespectful call from producer over film role

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe recounted a strained phone conversation with a producer friend who had previously invited her to feature in one of her projects.

According to her account, the call took an unexpected turn right from the introduction stage. The producer reportedly reacted sharply when she tried to reconnect for a pending job arrangement.

The actress narrated the exchange:
“Who is Mercy? I don’t have time. Better introduce yourself properly, or else I will cut the phone. She said the only Mercy she knows is Mercy Johnson and asked why I was calling her,” she said.

The confusion reportedly continued when the actress identified herself as Mercy Aigbe.

“I responded Mercy Aigbe, and she replied me by saying she only know Mercy Johnson, she doesn’t know any other Mercy,” she added.

What made the conversation more uncomfortable, she explained, was the shift in tone when her location and current work schedule came up. At the time of the call, she was already engaged on another film set.

She further recounted:
“She asked me where I was, and I told her I was on set in Ibadan filming another  movie, and she asked which permission I took to be filming another movie,” she said.

The incident has since stirred conversation around professionalism, communication boundaries, and respect within film production circles, especially between collaborators who already share prior working relationships.

The producer involved is described as a close associate who, alongside her production manager, had earlier contacted the actress to appear in one of their films making the recent exchange even more unexpected, according to the actress’s version of events.
