ManchesterUnited have confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as their new permanent manager, putting an end to speculation over the club’s long-term leadership
According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the decision has been in place for several weeks and already received approval from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the club’s new leadership team. Carrick is expected to sign his contract in the coming days.
The agreement is said to be either a two-year deal with an option for extension or a straight three-year contract, with Carrick giving full approval to the terms.
The former Manchester United midfielder, who previously stepped in as interim manager, is believed to have earned the confidence of the board through his calm leadership, tactical discipline, and deep understanding of the club’s identity.
His time in charge reportedly stabilised the team’s performances and boosted their push toward UEFA Champions League qualification.
An official announcement from the club is expected soon once final paperwork is completed.
