French football star Kylian Mbappé is set to acquire a majority stake in SM Caen, a French club, for approximately €20m, according to Le Parisien.
The 25-year-old Real Madrid player will own 80% of the club, with Pierre-Antin Capton, chairman of the supervisory board, holding the remaining 20% worth €5m.
The deal, which has been in negotiations for several weeks, is expected to close soon
Mbappé will reportedly appoint Ziad Hammoud, his brand image team head, and his mother Fayza Lamari as the new president.
This move follows in the footsteps of David Beckham, who also invested in a football club. Interestingly, Mbappé had considered playing for SM Caen earlier in his career.
The club finished sixth in the French second division last season, and this new ownership is expected to bring changes to the team.
