I was criticised for dressing too s3xy – Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage, a renowned Nigerian singer, has opened up about her experiences with criticism in the early days of her career.

In a recent interview with Kiss FM, UK, the 44-year-old music icon revealed that she faced harsh criticism for her “s3xy” fashion style and provocative lyrics.

Drawing parallels with her younger colleague, Ayra Starr, who is known for wearing short skirts, Tiwa expressed admiration for the Mavin Records artiste’s talent and authenticity.

Tiwa  Savage confessed that she is “obsessed” with Ayra Starr, praising her for continuing to shine despite facing similar criticism from Nigerians over her dressing sense.

Tiwa Savage empathized with Ayra’s situation, recalling her own struggles with criticism early in her career.

She playfully suggested that Ayra should wear even shorter skirts, showcasing her support for the young artiste’s confidence and talent.

The singer said; “I love Ayra [Starr]. I’m obsessed with her. She’s amazing and genuine, too. It makes me emotional because when I started, I got criticised a lot for dressing too sexy and my lyrics being too risky.

“So, seeing someone, Ayra now…If I see her wearing the short skirts as they [critics] say, I’m like, ‘Make it shorter.’ And she looks amazing, she’s extremely talented. Yeah, she’s a star.
