Guardiola set to leave Man City end of season

Pep Guardiola is expected to bring his highly successful Manchester City reign to a close this weekend, according to reports circulating on Monday

The 55-year-old has spent nearly a decade at the Etihad Stadium, during which he has won six Premier League titles and delivered the club’s first UEFA Champions League trophy, taking his overall haul to 20 major honours since arriving in 2016.

City still have a chance to end the season with more silverware. They must win their final two league games against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, while also hoping Arsenal slip up against Crystal Palace on the last day of the campaign.

The Daily Mail and The Athletic report that Guardiola is likely to step down after City’s home fixture against Aston Villa.

The club has so far remained silent on the speculation surrounding his future.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have already scheduled a victory parade in Manchester on Monday to celebrate their League Cup and FA Cup triumphs this season, an event that could now serve as a farewell occasion for the manager.

In the background, former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, who previously worked on Guardiola’s coaching staff at City, is being mentioned as a possible candidate to take over ahead of next season.
