VeryDarkMan has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
His release was announced on Wednesday by activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, who shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
“Thanks to the unrelenting efforts of everyone, @thatverydarkman has been released from unjust detention at the @officialEFCC. He is now with his vibrant lawyer, @adeyanjudeji,” Sowore wrote.
VeryDarkMan’s arrest on May 2 sparked widespread public outcry, with activists, celebrities, and rights groups demanding his release. While the EFCC reportedly acted on allegations related to cybercrime, his legal team maintains the detention was baseless and politically motivated.
His release comes as a relief to supporters who had criticized the move as a clampdown on free speech and dissenting voices.
