Nigerian Disc Jockey and artiste, DJ Cuppy, has signed her first-ever music deal with a U.K record label, Platoon. This announcement was made by Cuppy via Instagram with a Platoon Music video, showing how she was welcomed into the label, was coming weeks after being made the Host for Apple music’s Africa Now. I feel very special and honoured” In March, the CEO of Platoon Music, Denzyl Feigelson, opened up to Billboard on the label’s need to help artistes and ensure the pressure of COVID-19 is not so much on them. He said; “If an artist cannot survive through this COVID-19 period, they’re not going to survive,” he says. “Just like companies are going to go down, too. And I don’t want that to happen. So we’re finding ways to mitigate this time that we’re going through to help artists.” Over the past three years, Platoon has increased its reach in African countries by handing out advances to several acts in South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria and so forth.
