Nigerian singer Davido has opened up about the next phase of his career, revealing that he is no longer focused on winning Grammys.
Speaking on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi, the artist said he has already achieved a lot globally, including performing across the world, selling out arenas, and receiving multiple Grammy nominations in recent years.
According to him, he now feels fulfilled with those milestones and is ready to focus on making music that reflects his identity.
“This part of my career, I have performed everywhere, sold out every arena, I have been to three Grammys in the last three years. The music that is coming next is very Davido, it is very African. We have done it so I am not really looking to really do western sounds,” he said.
He explained that his upcoming sound will be rooted in African identity rather than tailored to Western audiences.
Davido also spoke about his strong fanbase in South Africa, noting that a large number of people there know and support his music.
The singer has collaborated with several South African artists over the years and continues to maintain a strong presence across the continent.
