Davido says club experience inspired him to do music

Nigerian music star Davido has shared a personal story about how his journey into music began, and according to him, it all started during a night out in Lagos.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, the Afrobeats singer recalled being in Nigeria during Christmas when he decided to visit Club Rehab. While at the club, some of the biggest names in the music industry at the time walked in, including legendary duo P-Square, Wizkid and Wande Coal.

Davido said the atmosphere changed immediately the artistes entered, especially because of the reaction they got from female fans inside the club. According to him, that moment stayed in his head and pushed him to consider music seriously.

“I remember I was in Nigeria for Christmas and I went to the club. When P Square, Wizkid and Wande Coal walked in, all the girls went crazy for them. That’s how I made up my mind to do music. I wanted it,” Davido said during the interview.

Over the years, Davido has grown into one of Africa’s most successful music stars, with several hit songs and international recognition in the Afrobeats scene.
