An High Court has fined Halima Abubakar N10 million for defaming Apostle Johnson Suleman.
Recall that Apostle Suleman accused Abubakar of making false comments about him on her Instagram account, which were then picked up by blogs and media houses, according to the court’s certified authentic copy of the ruling.
Enobie Obanor, the judge on the case, stressed that Halima Abubakar had the opportunity to defend herself but chose not to.
The ruling noted how nasty and untrue the statements posted by Halima Abubakar on her Instagram account were, harming Apostle Suleman’s public reputation.
Apostle Suleman was thus given N10,000,000 by the court as exemplary and aggravating damages for libel.
The court also ordered that Halima Abubakar should discontinue posting any other information on Apostle Suleman.
