Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy received a BRIT plaque recognizing his impressive achievement of surpassing 1 billion streams in the United Kingdom.
However, he expressed his disappointment that the recognition came two years after reaching this milestone.
Burna Boy has made history as the second African artist to achieve this feat, following Wizkid, and holds the record for the highest-peaking African album on the UK chart with his sixth studio album, “Love, Damini”.
Additionally, he has sold out the 80,000-capacity London Stadium twice, a first for any African artist.
Burna Boy questioned the delay in receiving the plaque, suggesting that his current streams should be combined for a bigger award.
Despite his disappointment, he appreciated the recognition, acknowledging the significance of his achievements in the UK music industry.
