Before becoming one of Nigeria’s most celebrated footballers, Victor Boniface faced difficult financial realities while trying to establish himself in Europe.
The Super Eagles striker said that during his spell at Bodø/Glimt, his monthly salary was €3,000, an amount that often left little room for expensive international travel.
Boniface explained that every December, he requested two months of his salary in advance to fund his trip home to Nigeria and spend time with his family during the holidays.
“I would take my two months’ salary upfront every December so that I could go home to Nigeria. I was receiving only €3,000 then in Norway,” he said.
That experience formed part of Victor Boniface’s development as a young professional before he rose to become a recognised name in European football.
