Gospel singer Eben has recounted how a church withdrew his invitation to minister at its event over his appearance in shredded denim jeans on an album cover
Eben disclosed this during a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where he expressed shock and disappointment over the decision, noting that all arrangements for the programme had already been concluded before the cancellation.
According to the singer, the church committee raised objections after seeing his album artwork, where he appeared in a pair of shredded jeans, describing the outfit as inappropriate for a Christian minister.
“They had already invited me for their convention, and everything was arranged. Then they saw my album artwork where I wore a shredded denim jean,” Eben said.
He explained that the organiser later contacted him, clearly distressed, to convey the committee’s stance.
“The organiser called me, very upset, and mentioned that the committee felt they could not accept me as a minister because of the type of jeans I was wearing. They said it wasn’t suitable for a Christian,” he added.
