Rapper, MI Abaga has shared personal insights into why and how sad he felt marrying late, admitting he wasn’t emotionally ready at the time,
Speaking on the Jay On Air Podcast, the veteran rapper revealed that by age 37, he began to feel a sense of regret seeing his peers raise teenagers or prepare their children for college.
“I started to feel a little bad at 37. My friends who got married at 25 or 26 now have 14-year-old kids. Some have children heading to college. Even those who didn’t marry early still had kids. My brother Jesse, for example, has a 21-year-old child. Meanwhile, I had none at that time,” he said.
Despite those feelings, MI expressed gratitude for eventually finding the right partner at the right time. “I met my wife shortly after I turned 39. She was there for my 40th birthday. I was finally ready. I proposed, and we got married when I was 41,” he said, describing their relationship as divine timing.
He also reflected on his previous relationships, admitting he wasn’t mature enough and often emotionally unavailable.
“I feel sadness when I think about my past. I met some truly kind and supportive women, but I wasn’t ready. I was stubborn and immature,” MI added.
The rapper emphasized that everyone moves at their own pace in life and that it’s important to embrace one’s unique journey without comparing it to others.
